Ride to Art- Amsterdam Oost
Public art in this moment of physical distancing.
1st August-31 August 2020
Ride to art is a free plein air exhibition of art created by artists living or working in Amsterdam Oost. Its goals are to support local businesses and entertain the residents and visitors of Amsterdam Oost by making the whole neighborhood more colorful and inviting the cyclists to wander around. The original artworks are on display in the windows of different businesses, from hair salons to fish shops or libraries and clothing stores. The public is invited to ride their bikes around the neighborhood to find the different artworks, with the help of a map on www.ridetoart.nl showing the location of each art piece. The website also gives more explanation about the art on display, the artists who created them and the businesses hosting them. Ride to Art offers a new presentation of art viewing by taking advantage of the city's bicycle culture, while respecting the rules of physical distancing.
"Ride to Art" takes place for 4 weeks, all around Amsterdam East, 1st-31st August 2020.
